This is a three-part series showing an amazing feature of a common plant that grows wild in California. Did you ever notice the tendrils on Watermelon vines? They're common but commonly overlooked. They're different than tendrils on Ivy or Grape vines. They're more like Manroot tendrils.

Tendrils don't just attach a vine to a support, tendrils can pull the vine closer while growing in length. See here for an explanation.
